You Asked, We Answered

Do you have a vegan menu?

We are still working on this, however parts of our picnics are, or can be made vegan, so contact us if you would like to order a partially-vegan picnic and we will see what we can do!

Can you cook for gluten-free clients?

We can! Our flour-free picnic can be made gluten-free, however this needs to be specified when ordering as we have to take extra measures to ensure no cross-contamination occurs.

Do you use free range meat and eggs?

We feel very strongly about animal welfare and always use free-range eggs. We use free-range meat where possible - for ethical and taste reasons! Most of our meat is from our local butcher and is reared in Yorkshire and is free-range. Some ingredients are not free-range but we are always looking for an ethical alternative.

How sustainable is The Picnic Shop?

We love the great outdoors and work very hard to keep our company as environmentally-friendly as possible.
We use real plates, cups and cutlery instead of disposable. Our drinks come in glass bottles and we recycle these. Our drinks packets are recycled through the Terracycle scheme. Our food is all served in dishes that we wash and re-use. We try to minimise food waste and most food waste from preparing picnics is fed to our hens! We will never compromise on food hygiene which means we still use a few disposables such as cling film, but we are always looking for ways to help our planet.

What if I want to change a picnic, or am looking for a bespoke picnic?

Not a fan of elderflower? No problem. Egg mayo sandwiches not your thing? That's OK. We understand that everyone has different tastes and we are very happy to substitute items in your picnic basket. Before placing an order, please contact me first to discuss the substitution. We are also more than happy to come up with a totally bespoke picnic for you. Again, please contact us regarding this.

What if I have a food allergy?

If you have an allergy to any type of food or ingredient, please let us know as early as possible. We will then ensure that none of the ingredients that go into your picnic contain that allergen.

How does delivery work?

We usually deliver up to 15 miles from Chapeltown, Sheffield. Delivery costs £2 per mile (this includes both journeys, so for example if you live 3 miles from Chapeltown, delivery will cost £6 total) and is calculated using Google Maps. We will deliver the picnic to your home or venue as close as possible to the time you will be eating it. We will then ask you to leave the picnic basket and contents in a safe spot outside your house either that evening or the next day, and we will collect it. Food such as meat or dairy cannot be out of the fridge for more than four hours so if you are planning on taking your picnic on a long-distance journey, please contact us before so that we can work out a way to help you to keep it cool.

What size events do you cater for?

We love catering for events but we only have a small team so are currently catering for events up to 100 people.

Do you hire out equipment?

We do! We understand that some people love making food as much as we do, so our beautiful picnic baskets, plates, cups, and cutlery are available to hire so that you can fill them with your own concoctions! Please see our Equipment Hire page for further details
